Network Reliability Engineer

Our platform spans multiple colocation facilities, CDN edge nodes, and cloud interconnects. We need a network engineer who thinks in terms of failure domains, who can troubleshoot a BGP route leak at 3 AM, and who documents network changes before implementing them.

Responsibilities

• — Design and maintain multi-site network topology: BGP peering, GRE/IPsec tunnels, cross-connect architecture
• — Manage firewall policy across the fleet: iptables/nftables rule design, UFW management, DDoS mitigation at the edge
• — Operate CDN routing layer: anycast configuration, geo-DNS, health checking, origin shield failover
• — Monitor network health: latency SLAs, packet loss thresholds, bandwidth utilization forecasting
• — Manage internal DNS infrastructure: authoritative + recursive, split-horizon views, DNSSEC, zone delegation
• — Maintain network documentation: topology diagrams, IP address management (IPAM), circuit inventory, peering records
• — Participate in on-call rotation (1 week per 6 weeks) — network incidents, transit provider escalations

Requirements

• — 5+ years of network engineering in multi-site production environments
• — Strong understanding of BGP: path selection, communities, prefix filtering, IRR/RPKI, troubleshooting with looking glasses
• — Experience with Linux firewall management at scale (50+ nodes) — iptables/nftables/UFW with configuration management
• — DNS expertise: BIND or PowerDNS, DNSSEC, split-horizon, EDNS, troubleshooting with dig/delv
• — TCP/IP internals: you can explain the difference between a retransmission and a spurious retransmission from a pcap
• — Experience with network automation: NetBox, NAPALM, Ansible network modules, or similar

Nice to Have

• — Experience with anycast DNS or CDN routing infrastructure
• — CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent certification
• — Familiarity with DDoS mitigation: traffic scrubbing, RTBH, Flowspec
• — Experience with IPv6 deployment at scale
• — Knowledge of MPLS, VXLAN, or EVPN for multi-site fabric
